End of March 2009 I went to Sweden to
“wake”the house up from the winter’s
cold- basically to turn off the extremely
expensive heating that is essential to
protect the house during the long winter
nights. In Ireland Spring was already
attempting to start and the beautiful
daffodils were in full bloom however when
landed in Sweden it was just around zero
degrees and the first morning after I
arrived back at the house I looked out of
the window to see the most beautiful
winter snow land. brrrrrrr....it was cold but
very tempting to photograph. I attempted
to Drive to Orebro a couple of days later
and managed to catch the last scenes of
the dying winter as the icy lakes started to
thaw....inland the snow was almost away.
Just a kilometre away from the house
there is a couple of huge fields where the
swans seem to winter over and in my
garden the fawns were foraging for fallen
fruits. Driving back 2 weeks later....the
most beautiful sun on the cargo ship back
to the UK and in Liverpool waiting for the
ferry to Belfast a very persistant seagull
begged all the drivers in the cars for tit
bits.......
