Kari was born in Norway and has over the
years introduced me to her country. A lot
of the photos are from a visit to her town
of birth: Droback and we managed to
experience the 17th May National day
parades- the children’s parade- apparantly
there is one for grown ups and one for
children. Everyone turns up in their
national dress and each costume is
coloured according to where you come
from. Also the display of silver jewelry
was in the old days a demonstration of
your status in society. Nowadays of
course no longer a status symbol of your
wealth. I also found it ammusing that the
children now wearing the costumes were
not all Norwegian children.
The other fjord photographs are from my
travels accross the Telemark. Up one
mountain and down the next - one
beautiful fjord follwed by the next. Large
threatening mountains and beautiful deep
gorges of water. An experience I would
encourage others to do at least once in
their life.
